K.D. Flaharty was first diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in the fall of 2010. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgery she was able to fight it off! Unfortunately, the cancer has returned which is why we created this site. We hope to raise funds in efforts to help her pay the extensive medical costs that come along with battling cancer.

If you saw KD standing in line at a grocery store, she would no doubt flash you that infectious smile and probably strike up a conversation about the sale on almond milk and eggs. You would feel like you’ve known her for years, walking away from the check-out stand with a smile on your face and the desire to hold the door open for the next person. That’s KD in a nutshell: INSPIRING, POSITIVE, UPBEAT and CAREFREE. You would never know what she is going through if it wasn’t for the scarf covering her head. There is no way that someone with so much energy and zest for life could be going through so much. Yet here we are. We are KD’s friends. We have created this page to not only spread awareness, but also to inspire others. We encourage you to reach out and help someone, to be a little kinder. Because that is what KD does every day, that’s how she has always been.
